We went to Spain in July 2012, for the ECRYPT Provable Privacy workshop and the Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium (both in Vigo), but spent a few days in Barcelona fist, and had an afternoon and evening in Madrid on the way home.

We started our second day by taking the subway to La Sagrada Familia. We arrived just in time to get to the front of the line just before the English guided tour started, so we went on that.

It seems implausible to me that anyone today would be able to start a project that they expect to take more than 100 years to complete. They broke ground on this building in 1882, and hope to complete it in 2026.
