Pictures from Ian and Kat's Digital Camera: Around town
[Up to Cozumel, Mexico: Feb 14-19, 2008 ]

In the last Ontario election, the incumbent leader promised a new long weekend in February if he was re-elected. He was, and to everyone's surprise, he followed through with Family Day. We took the long weekend and an extra couple of days as an opportunity to get out of the Canadian winter and go to somewhere warm. We chose Cozumel, Mexico. This was our first beach-style vacation together. We had a great time.

As we were staying in town (San Miguel), we spent quite a bit of time wandering about, mostly on foot.

Our first day in Cozumel. We had a snack at one of the restaurants next to the central square.

These birds were all around. It turns out they're a kind of grackle.

We started our second day by walking to the Cruz Roja (Red Cross). We had brought with us a duffel bag full of donations, including medical supplies, clothes, and stuffed animals for local children.

I was trying to take a picture of the colours of the open water, but a uniformed person told me I had to point my camera towards the cruise ships. Huh. I wonder if there was some kind of military thing in the other direction.

We stopped in the local grocery store to get some supplies (and practice some Spanish in the process).

On our last day, we went to a beach club. It had a floating climbing rock iceberg.
