In early March 2003, Kat and I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras. It was my first time in New Orleans, and the first Mardi Gras for both of us. I also got to meet Kat's brother Ben, who lives there. We had a wonderful time, and of course took a bunch of pictures. :-)

Kat munches on beignets at Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter. Beignets are fried dough, covered in sugar. If you breathe while you eat it, the powdered sugar gets all over everything. :-p

Kat and I were walking down the street, when we heard someone say, "Hello!" It turned out it was a large bird named Iko. Her owner brought her outside and let us hold her.

Kat enjoys a glass of wine on the front steps, listening to Car Talk on the radio. In New Orleans, you're allowed to drink alcohol outside, though you're not allowed to have glass bottles in the French Quarter.
