Pictures from Ian and Kat's Digital Camera: Ian goes to Queensday IV: Amsterdam, 26 April - 2 May, 2002
[Up to Our World Travels ]

Here are pictures from various trips I have taken to faraway (and not-so-faraway) places.

For the fourth year in a row, I, a bunch of friends, and many, many other foreigners descended on Amsterdam for Koninginnedag (Queensday).

Big thanks to the local hfh who threw all the wonderful parties, and especially to Lisa Koonts for putting us up (and up with us) for a week.

A couple days before Queensday. The rides were already running in Dam square.

Ferris wheel in Dam square. A nice day; the crowds are starting to come.

Queensday itself. It had stopped raining by the time I had woken up, so it was a decent day for it. The orange; the boats; the canals.

And for sure, the crowds. We tended to avoid the really crowded parts. This is hardly crowded at all.

And some (pretected-from-trampling) tulip gardens in the middle of the city.

Live music for the masses. One of the stages (not this one) had Queen performing.

After Queensday. Lisa and Nikita, at a cafe outside Lisa's place. We have 802.11 wireless network connectivity from here, thanks to the Airport in Lisa's place!

Back at Lisa's place, for the day-after-Queensday movie night. We watched "Takedown" and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" on a Big Empty Wall. Don't miss the hammock --- I'd never slept in one before; it's quite nice.
