Pictures from Ian and Kat's Digital Camera: Random pictures from the city of Amsterdam
[Up to Queensday week in Amsterdam: 30 April - 5 May 2001 ]

Here are pictures from various trips I have taken to faraway (and not-so-faraway) places.

As is becoming a habit, I and a bunch of North American friends descended on Amsterdam for Queensday (a national holiday there).

Also see the pictures from Party At Ian's Place At Indyra's Place in Amsterdam.

This directory contains pictures taken around Amsterdam during the week after Queensday.

An elevator in Amsterdam. "0" is the ground floor; "1" is the floor above that, and so on. "-1" is the floor below the ground floor. Makes perfect sense to me.

I happened to stumble upon Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's in Amsterdam. Unlike in the US, where such a thing attracts lineups around the block, here very few people were taking advantage of the offer. Apparently, the concept is not one which translates well into Dutch culture.

This "Red Bull car-boat" was a little bit surreal.

A memorial for a person who was beaten in this spot, while passers-by ignored cries for help.
