This year we missed the boat for joining a CSA. Apparently, around here, you have to get on board in March or April if you want to participate with any of the four traditional CSA's that we know of. But a group of Farmers has started the Local Organic Food Team (LOFT) program, and we managed to get in on that.

LOFT differs from a traditional CSA in that it delivers produce from several farms, not just one, and you can choose the weeks you want food. We signed up for the minimum 10 weeks of food, and were able to exclude weeks when we'll be away or otherwise occupied.

Our first box: 18 June, 2008. Some of these items are greenhouse-grown. Asparagus, green onions, small white onions, rhubarb, butter lettuce, mixed greens, green garlic, garlic scapes, swiss chard, spinach, kohlrabi, tomatoes, zucchini, parsley, mint, broccoli, honey, sweet williams.

Our fourth box: 9 July, 2008. This is our last box for a little while, since I'll be travelling a lot for the rest of the month. Strawberries, green onions, red romaine lettuce, salad greens, beets, swiss chard, snap peas, spinach, tomatoes, zucchini, new potatoes, garlic scapes, fresh garlic, parsley, mint, calendula flowers.
